Building and Improving an Educational Activity: An Interactive Exercise

EXERCISE FOR TEACHERS

Consider your students. They will be with you for some period of time.

Imagine a capability that you believe they would benefit from attaining. Let it be a capability so important that you would want to make sure they attained it during the time they are with you as students.

Set a learning goal for this capability. Explain why you think it is a concept, a skill or a disposition.

Justify the learning goal by explaining, in some detail, how your students will benefit from attainment, and how the world would benefit from your students’ attainment as well. Strengthen this justification by referring to research, educational standards and your own experience.

Describe in detail how you would obtain evidence of the degree to which your students have attained the learning goal. How would you monitor their attainment until proficiency is reached? What quality would you like to characterize proficiency?

What could make your method of assessment stronger or weaker?

Put the above into a narrative and submit by filling in the required information on the form and uploading your exercise.
